Some time ago, I realized you have to be a little bit crazy to be a nature photographer. You wait for hours. You hope your subject gets close enough for a quality image. When it does, you might only have a few seconds to capture the moment. And your best images are never easy. The better the image, the greater the challenge. Today was no exception. I was lying in the snow for what seemed like an eternity until a small red squirrel was curious enough to approach. In the end, I got the image I had hoped for, an eye-level portrait with a studio feel.
