While other species might be more rare and their images more valued, I never tire of Mallards, especially at this time of year. Males have just transitioned from eclipse plumage to breeding plumage, and their colours are rich and vibrant. Their iridescent green feathers reveal many different shades as they reflect sunlight and repel water. So on cold November mornings, it is always a pleasure to have a close pass from a curious Mallard. This image was taken today at Parc Centenaire William Cosgrove in DDO.
