I’m pleasantly surprised by my recent Osprey sightings in our area. With wingspans of
six feet, these impressive birds are larger than hawks.
Osprey can be recognized by their long slender wings and their distinctive colour pattern. Sometimes, they can be seen hovering over the water before they swoop down to catch a fish with their talons.
Are these birds migrants? Is our watershed healthy enough to support a nesting pair? Time will tell!
Here is an Osprey image taken this afternoon at Driscoll-Naylor.
