When you think of the king of birds, you might think of an eagle. But there is another king in our area, the Eastern Kingbird. These birds prefer open or edge habitats close to water and can be seen darting from their perches to feed on passing insects.
Kingbirds are fearless when driving larger birds from their nests, thus the name king. This Eastern Kingbird was photographed at Centennial Park in Beaconsfield.
